  • Peninsula of Flying Mountains by Jakub “Jimmymax” Pleban

Today we’re showcasing this impressive series of battle maps created by Jakub “Jimmymax” Pleban! These gravity-defying islands will be right at home in a world of magic, and are an inspiring use-case for our many stone and cliff map assets. The maps range in size from 32×24 to 32×48 and span four distinct biomes.

Interested in how Jakub is using them at his table? He offers the following:

From Jakub:

“The Peninsula of Floating Mountains is a one-of-a-kind region in my homebrew world of Arnaxin. It was born from an explosion of wild magic that erupted from the capital of an ancient empire. Now, this part of the world is an ever-changing nexus of elemental forces and unpredictable magic. Its chaotic nature creates biomes that coexist—or clash—with one another. The name comes from its peculiar gravitational anomalies, causing rocks and entire mountains to float in mid-air. Some of these formations can be scaled, offering adventurers the chance to uncover long-buried secrets hidden among the shifting landscapes.

The primary goal of these maps was to immerse players in a magical, unpredictable environment that fuels their sense of adventure. The addition of floating rocks introduces unique gameplay opportunities: players can use the low gravity to leap between platforms, opening creative ways for exploration or combat. These dynamic mechanics allow for exciting encounters with elemental creatures that call this chaotic place home.”
