Today, we’re zooming out to provide the full context for Motojoto’s beloved series of maps!
This overview reveals various settlements and landscapes that haven’t been covered in the series yet, leaving you plenty of space to add your own locations or merge the region into your campaign. This completes the Gloomy Forest collection (for now) – be sure to catch up on the rest of the set, linked above!

From Motojoto:
“The first ever game I played was the iconic Curse of Strahd Campaign, I loved how open it all was while also providing a clear set of goals that guided a player to most locations. So for my game I have created a map similar to that of Barovia, being a secluded valley shrouded in darkness.
Also akin to Barovia with its many regions such as the isolated high mountaintops of Mount Ghakis and more populated zones like the area around the walled city of Krezk my own valley has a few distinct regions. The far west is the Hunters Copse and a valley within the valley where many hunters and more “savage” folk make their home. Just over the ridge lies the Western Bank, a region denoted by the capitol town of the area and presence of a few secluded manors for the valleys minor nobility. To the south is the Southern Ridge where the valleys food is grown in vast golden fields and precious minerals are mined from the hills. At the far east in the deepest part of the valley is the Fetid Swamp, and place where those with no other place to go are forced to make their living in broken shacks on stilts by fishing the putrid waters. Then across the southern bridge overlooking the swamp is the Royal Road which leads to the tower of a powerful mage to the east and the regions ruling family to the west. Finally high above the rest of the regions is the Mountain Path where many of the valleys mystics dwell observing the stars.
I’ve made quite a few maps set in this valley already and as time goes on hopefully this spooky little land will be filled with all manner of interesting locations to visit and quests to be undertaken.”
