“I went into this map with a plan. I knew I wanted to include a mini-dungeon, and I knew I wanted to annoy the absolute pants off of my players with kobolds. I decided on a cliffside ambush, and thankfully there were some excellent cliff assets in the Banshee Bridge Map Pack.

I used some boulder tokens to block the road, and the kobolds shot down at them with crossbows. Once my players wasted their time (several rounds) climbing up the cliff, the kobolds ducked down into the cavern below, through a hole too small for my players to fit.

In the cave, I had a gauntlet of traps waiting for them. First, a room that locked them in before igniting the oil-soaked leaves on the floor. Second, a chest full of centipedes and a captive to save. Finally, there was a flooded hallway with bear traps hidden beneath the muddy water. In all, it was great fun, and I was able to walk the fine line between annoying my players and giving them a fun dungeon!”
