The stage in this famous plaza draws all sorts of performers, even on cold wintry nights such as this.

Snowy Plaza Battle Map, Night Banner

Before I got into battle maps I was considering becoming a landscape architect, because the concept of designing parks and plazas on a daily basis seemed like a dream job to me. Well, I never got very far with that, but at least I can make a decent battle map!

This is the Snowy Plaza, and is loosely based on a day I spent in Matsumoto enjoying the festivities of the Japanese National Foundation Day. I knew I wanted a slightly snowy cobbled park with a spattering of nature, and a stage for performances to take place on. The canal was born in order to break up the map and serve as an obstacle for the theoretical combatants.

What combatants, you may ask? Perhaps revolutionaries who despise the message of the speaker on stage, or a conveniently timed raiding party, or a conniving group of performers who take the audience hostage with magic?

Please, share your ideas in the comments!
