A risky river-crossing makes an excellent place for an ambush…

The fast moving water demands slow progress and harrowing skill checks. Whether bandits looking for coin, or a giant crocodile looking for lunch, this is an opportune place to do find both.

Even without crocodiles or bandits or bandit crocodiles, this map makes for an interesting encounter!

Let us know in the comments the challenges you would place on this map. What sort of rolls would you demand? What creatures are lying in wait? I look forward to your replies!

  1. I love your stuff! This one is a bit hard to read though. It took me a couple of minutes to guess that the water flow is left to right? The crossing graphically looks like a ford, but being “fast moving water” well, the two do not play well together. Anyway, great work as usual.

    1. Thank you! I think the water can flow whichever way the DM needs. As you said, it’s rather ambiguous. You’re right about the ford being a little sketchy too. In my mind, either there was a bridge that was washed away, or it’s a seasonal melt causing the water to surge so quickly.
